Even though the years have crept up on us, we're still in love with the possibilities life will present to us, and we are fun:-) That mindset never changes. Our age tends to be reflected in the ages of nieces, nephews, and parents: not in ourselves. That's the way it should be - you're only as old as you feel.
When I think of aging, I think of this passage from Kahlil Gibran on Time, " ... let each season encircle all the other seasons, And let today embrace the past with remembrance and the future with longing." So today, my friend and I are celebrating on an afternoon cruise on the harbor. And then we'll eat cake!
Food for thought from Billy Crystal - "Dahling, you look mahvelous!"

What a lovely birthday gift, to have a blog entry dedicated to me! Although our cruise was cancelled, spending the afternoon watching movie "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" was the perfect way to spend the day. The messages given in this movie were just what I needed to hear, and reflect your blog entry so well. Having a dear friend like you in my life is a gift every day, my dear!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you know, I had a blog from when I was in Tanzania a few years ago, and that's how I got published! Not in Tanzania anymore, but it's still in my heart (as is India these days).
